Emmaline Woodrow Lewis
September 15, 1930 – April 27, 2018
Emmaline “Emma/Emmie” Lewis, age 87 years old, went to be with her Lord, on April 27, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was known for her love of God and fierce independence. She was baptized and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. Born on September 15, 1930 in Jacksonville, Florida, she was the only child of Alice P. and Will H. Woodrow. She graduated high school from Brenau Academy in Gainesville, Georgia, received her B.S degree in Chemistry from Wake Forest University in 1950 and a Masters in Education from the University of Florida in 1956. Emmaline spent her life in Jacksonville raising her family and continuing her passion for education. Besides being an expert cook, she was an avid golfer, shopper, and also enjoyed fishing and boating along the coastal waters of Florida and the Bahamas. Later in life she fulfilled her lifelong dream to travel the world. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Lewis Estes (Scott) of Tallahassee, Florida and Susan Lewis Moore (Eric) of Cordell, Oklahoma, grandsons Vance Scott Underwood (Melissa) of Satellite Beach, Florida and Ryan Lewis Underwood (Kristen) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and great grandchildren Molli (13), Sofia (3), and Parker Underwood (1). Her daughters wish to thank Cheryl Drohan Claxton and her mother, Betty Schnitzer, for their friendship, love and support. A celebration of her life is being planned for family and friends.
