Erma Mae Rhatigan

Erma Mae Rhatigan passed away on Friday 2-Aug-2019 in Orange Park, Florida at the age of 80 after an illness of nearly five months. Erma was born on 28 Mar 1939 in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd Theodore Queen and Dorothy Lorraine Schuchmann. She was the third child of 12 in this family.

She is survived by her husband Richard James Rhatigan, son of Howard Dale Rhatigan and Elizabeth Mae McDonough.

Erma worked as a “car hop” in a Root-Beer stand in the 1950’s. After graduation from Centralia High School in 1957, she married Kenneth Jones, who was in the Navy, and moved to Florida, then New Jersey, back to Florida, all while raising four children. She later married Richard (Dick) Rhatigan, who was also in the Navy. She worked at various retail stores in Florida, but her real passion was for crafts. She enjoyed decorating her house and yard for Christmas (her favorite holiday), visiting Disney World with her grandchildren, and traveling with her husband Dick to various locations and visiting relatives. She did her best to spoil her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Erma is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Denise Erwin (Kenneth) of Jacksonville, FL, and four sons, Gregory Wayne Jones (Martha) of Dallas, TX, Brian Keith Jones (Tammy) of Middleburg, FL, Kevin Lee Jones (Marsha) of Monroe, GA, Martin James Rhatigan (Julie), of Orlando, FL, and her first husband Kenneth Wayne Jones, Fleming Island, FL;

12 grandchildren, Kaleb Joshua Erwin (Melody) of Jacksonville, FL, Christina Danielle Peeples (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth Anna Jones of Dallas, TX, Amanda Emily Prock (Eric) of Lawtey, FL, Kristopher Lee Jones (Bethany) of Hawaii, Kayla Marie Williams (Brandon) of Monroe, GA, and Brandon Dean Jones (Logan) of Savannah, GA, Lindsey Watson (William) of Orlando, FL, Calin Scott Rhatigan of Orlando, FL, Bridgett Mills (Dwight) of Middleburg, FL, Scott Jones (Emily) of Philaedelpia, PA, Nisa Dorough (Robert) of Middleburg, FL;

Erma is preceded in death by son Michael Scott Rhatigan (Joyce) of Pensacola, FL, a sister Sandra Sue Uhls (George) of Virginia Beach, VA, and a brother Lloyd Queen (Sara) of Centralia, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
