Ernestine Hackley Simmons

Ernestine Hackley Simmons, 72, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 following a short illness. She was born in Jacksonville on September 14, 1946 to parents Eddie Stein and Clidal (Tyson) Hackley. She had retired from HRS where she was a Lab Technician. Mrs. Simmons was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Alex Simmons (Feb. 2019). Survivors include her children, Tangie McGriff of Jacksonville, Michael McGriff of Jacksonville and Sonya Simmons Cravin (Terrance) of Pearland, TX; sisters, Betty Jean Hackley, Georgetta Owens (Robert); brothers, Willie Dee Hackley (Cora), and George Williams (Tracie), all of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. in Jacksonville with Pastor Eric Nealy officiating. Mrs. Simmons will be laid to rest at 1:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning an hour prior to service time.
