Ethel "Penny" Dugrenier Brewer

Ethel “Penny” DuGrenier Brewer, age 84, passed away on November 27, 2022, in Jacksonville, FL. Penny was born on December 27, 1937, in Somerville, MA, to Arlene and William DuGrenier. She married the love of her life James W. Brewer on January 9, 1958 and had eight children. She and James spent 47 wonderful years together, with James preceding her in death in April 2005.

Penny spent most of her life being a dedicated wife and loving mother. She was known for being “Mom” to extended family members, friends, and neighbors. She always greeted people with the most beautiful smile and a welcoming heart. She loved to sit with everyone, listening to stories, talking about memories and was always up for a good prank. It was often thought that if you met her, you would adore her.

Penny had a love for cooking, dancing, music and most of all her pets. In later years, she spent most days watching her favorite TV shows like Supernatural, Marvel/DC movies or her beloved horror movies. On Mondays, Fridays and any given Sunday, she was front and center watching WWE. One of her favorite stories was about a wrestling event she attended where she threw her shoe at the famous Rick Flair.

Penny will always be remembered for her beautiful heart, spunky sense of humor and above all for being everyone’s mom.

A memorial service for Ethel will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207.
