On June 13, 12:03 a.m. a bright light was extinguished. Eva P. Allport peacefully passed away with her children Bryan and Sheila holding her hands. She graced us with her presence for 96 and half years. A light that burned bright until she crossed over to be with God.
Eva Palma Horvath was born on January 26, 1928. She came to the U.S. in 1945 as a war bride with her beloved husband Harold Allport. She was transported from war-torn Budapest, Hungary to a then bustling Detroit, Michigan. What a shock for a classy European lady. She and Harold were married 50 years, when he passed in 1998. Eva carried on and was strong and resilient as they come.
She was so much to so many people. A devoted wife to Harold, the most loving and supportive mother to Palma, Bryan, and Sheila. A proud grandmother to Carrie Cyphert and Sean McConnaughey and great grandmother to Zachary Cyphert. She also was the adopted mother to our wonderful family friend Randall J. Brown.
Eva was a mother, friend and confidant to so many people in her life. A great listener who offered just the right advice and counsel that you needed. Everyone loved Eva. She was a strong force in everyone’s life she touched. She loved her animals and was cat mom to so many fur babies over the years. Her Moochie cat, forever at her side, keeping watch over her, will be looked after with much love and care.
There is a hole in our hearts with her passing. It’s unfathomable that she’s gone. She was always here for us. Now we must hold her in our hearts and allow her to guide us in her infinite wisdom. A treasure to those who knew her, simply the best mom to three lucky children privileged enough to call her mom.
God Speed Eva.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
