

Eva Rutherford White, Jacksonville, Florida, beloved mother, physical education /health teacher passed away peacefully, after a long battle with Parkinson ’s disease at the Earl B Hadlow Center for Caring. Eva was born in Tennessee and moved to Florida upon graduation from the University of Tennessee. She began her teaching career at Lakeshore Junior High and taught at Southside, Englewood, Hendricks Day School, Fletcher, Douglas Anderson, and Dupont. Eva inspired many youth to reach beyond their goals during her forty five year teaching career with Duval County Public Schools. During her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening, computers, working on family ancestry books, communicating with the First Rams Alumnae group, her Sheba friends, teacher associates and former students while spending time with her grandchildren. Eva touched the lives of many with her energy and devotion and maintained her trade mark sense of humor until the end.
She was married to the late William “Bill” White. Eva will forever be remembered by her son, William White, New York and daughter Ginger White Stehlin and son in law David Stehlin, three grandchildren, Ensign Joe Stehlin USN, Jami Stehlin, Jennifer Stehlin and numerous family members in Tennessee and Alabama.
Family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville on Friday October 19th from 5-7 pm. Eva’s life will be celebrated with a graveside Service at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery located on San Jose Blvd. in Jacksonville FL. At 11:00am on Saturday October 20, 2012. With Pastor Bruce Jones officiating.
