Evelyn was a proud 1939 graduate of St. Olaf College, in Northfield, MN. She received her bachelor’s degree with a major in Home Economics and a minor in General Science and Biology. After graduation she taught school in Buffalo Lake, MN and later at Lake Crystal, MN. She met her future husband, Patrick J. Conlin, after WW II. They married in Mankato, MN and eventually moved to St. Paul, MN. They began their family before relocating to Miami, FL, and then to Jacksonville, FL, where she lived for 62 years. Her husband passed away in 1976 and she retired from the Florida Department of Employment Services in 1979. Since then, she has enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Besides playing bridge, her favorite hobby was sewing. And she could sew anything. She was the most resourceful and frugal person you ever met. With an incredibly positive outlook and a great sense of humor she was a delight to be around and will be tremendously missed. She was a long-time member of Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church.
Evelyn is predeceased by her husband, Patrick, her daughter, Victoria (Bob) Lambert, and her brother, Harold Thorvig. She is survived by one daughter Millicent (Bernie) O’Connor, Jacksonville; one son Daniel (Judith) Conlin, St. Augustine Beach; two granddaughters Corey (Tim) Ward, Jacksonville, and Sarah (Sagar) Conlin, Anchorage, AK; one grandson Brian (Amanda) Conlin, Portland, ME; three great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
