Ginger Lockett Long, 51, of Mandarin in Jacksonville, FL passed away on July 12, 2018 in her home. Ginger was born in Mooresville, NC January 22, 1967 to the parents of Robert W. Lockett, Jr. (Champ) and Joyce Lockett Stull.
She graduated from Sandalwood High School and attended Florida State Jr. College in Jacksonville. She was an avid sports fan and was especially devoted to FSU and the New York Yankees.
On July 18, 1992, she married Myron Lynn Long in Lakewood Presbyterian Church. They lived for short periods of time in Centerville, Virginia and Dodge City, Kansas. After returning to Jacksonville, they were blessed with two sons, Matt and Chris.
She truly enjoyed her times in corporate America. Having an aptitude for numbers she quite naturally settled into accounting. While in Dodge City she was employed with Lopp Motors. Upon returning to Jacksonville, she secured a position with Intuition, the college pre-paid Florida plan. Later, she joined Modus Staffing and remained there until she returned home to be a stay-at-home mom.
Ginger is preceded in death by her father, Robert W. Lockett, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Ruth Evelyn Akers; fraternal grandparents, Mary Lou and Bob Lockett, Sr.
She is survived by her husband Myron Lynn Long of 26 years; children, Matthew Tanner Long of Jacksonville and Christopher Blake Long of Jacksonville; mother, Joyce Lockett Stull; brother, Lewis Lee Lockett; sister-in-law, Joelle Lockett; stepfather, David Stull; and stepmother, Pat Butler Lockett.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with Pastor Dave Stull as Officiant. There will be a Reception to follow.
