Fernando Trinidad Morales Vega

AUGUST 19, 1941 – JUNE 3, 2023

Fernando Trinidad Morales Vega, age 81, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away, with his wife by his side, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Mayo Hospital.

Fernando was born August 19, 1941, in Heredia, Costa Rica, to the late Leovigildo Morales and Luz Vega. He moved to Minnesota at the age of 19, where he met the love of his life, Sandra Knight. They married in 1966 and moved to Stewartville, Minnesota, where they raised their daughter, Janice Maria. Fernando worked at the Kahler Hotel in Rochester as a Maintenance Engineer and Sandra worked at the Mayo Clinic. In 1986, they moved to Jacksonville with Sandra’s job transfer. They continued to live in Jacksonville after retirement and spent much of their retirement traveling to visit friends and family in Minnesota and Costa Rica.

Fernando is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra, and daughter, Janice Davis. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Krysta (Brandon) Lowrey, Amanda Freeland, and James Davis; six great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Annalise, Audrey, Eli, Huck, and Ivan; one brother, Walter Morales; one sister, Maria de los Angeles Morales; and many other friends and family.

Fernando is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Historic Church, 4214 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A reception will follow.

Interment will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, in Remer, Minnesota.
