On Monday, January 20, 2020, a special flower was taken from us by God and guided to that Garden. That flower was aptly christened by her loving parents as Flor - the Spanish word for flower.
Although her movie star beauty ... blonde hair, blue eyes, and creamy white complexion, could have earned her entrance into many of Earth’s special places, it was Flor’s generous Spirit that made her a Mother to many, many more than the 4 children she birthed and her decades of self-less devotion to others that earned Flor God’s Favor to join the Garden and to become one of His most exquisite flowers.
We that knew her are deeply saddened to see our flower taken from us. Yet, we are overjoyed with great pride and happiness that she was hand picked to be brought into God’s Garden.
Flor Eva Segovia Fita Seda was born on October 29, 1926 in Santiago, Chile. Her Mother was Julia Segovia Fita (Deceased) and her Father was Cirilo Fita Coll (Deceased). She had six sisters...the first three were all named Julia and died during infancy...the eldest of the remaining sisters was Lucy Campla (Deceased), followed by Julia Phillips and her youngest sister was Lila Marshall.
Flor grew up in Chile where she attended a Catholic boarding school with her sisters. She later attended college at the University in Santiago. She met the love of her life and Married Jose Horinindo Seda on March 13, 1948. They would have four children...Marcia (Deceased in infancy), José Omar, Luis Alberto, and Julia Luz. She came to the United States of America in 1957 to join some of her family that lived here.
Flor enjoyed much traveling and many occupations as she taught herself English. In 1965, she would permanently make Jacksonville, Florida her home. She opened her own Tailor shop in San Marco and would create by hand - Suits, Dresses, Hats, etc. - for some of the most important clients in the area.
Flor loved her family very much and her home was opened to everyone. Most holidays and family gatherings took place there.
While raising her children as a single parent, Flor lived with, and cared for, her mother (Mama Julia) during the 42 years until her mother’s passing at the age of 102.
Flor spent many evenings playing Bingo with her mother and the three sisters. She also enjoyed traveling and going to casinos; but, her true love was spending time doing things at her home.
She was a Renaissance woman ... she could do it all...fix the roof, paint, cut trees...and cook delicious Chilean food.
She is greatly missed by her family. We patiently wait until we are able to visit God’s Garden and see our beautiful Flower - Flor.
She is survived by: two sisters - Julia and Lila; three children - Jose, Luis, and Julia; three grandchildren - Anthony, Joseph, and Mathew; and, two great-grandchildren - Zachary and Zoey. She also leaves behind countless nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family who loved her dearly.
Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 3030 Lake Shore Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32210.
