Frances Margaret Lamb Cox Crawford was born on August 17, 1921 in the small southeastern town of Wadley, Georgia. Her father, Leon Cox, was a farmer, and her mother, Jadie Lamb Cox passed away when Frances was a newborn. She had 11 brothers and sisters all of whom were very dear to her. Frances left home at a relatively young age and married Gordon Blanchard Crawford. As a child of the Depression, due to the nature of the time and more pressing responsibilities, she was unable to complete her formal education. An intelligent and feisty woman, she encouraged her husband as he went on in later years to earn his college degree. First and foremost, Frances was a devout and hands-on Christian. She never forgot her past. As an adult, she fed elderly neighbors, worked with the homeless, and served in countless charities. She financially supported those in need; but more so, she talked with people, served them and gave her heart so that even if it was just for that moment, they felt loved. She worked hard to instill this ethic in her children as well. All who knew Frances were blessed to see the finest example of Christian love in action. Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Jadie and Leon Cox, her loving husband of 34 years, Gordon Blanchard Crawford, a grandchild, Sarah Crawford, and a great-grandchild, Robert Malcolm Cluesman. Frances is survived by her three children; William Frederick Crawford, Cathy Caroline Crawford Compton and Mark Timothy Crawford. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Brian Christopher Crawford (Michele), Rene Compton Smith, Phillip Joshua Crawford, Robin Compton Ewers, Garrett Matthew Crawford, William Daniel Compton, and Jennifer Lauren Crawford. Her great-grandchildren are Matthew Alexander Compton and Anna Marie Ewers. Mother, you will be missed more than you could ever imagine. We love you infinitely. Be full of joy and peace.
