The true meaning of faith and family could easily be defined by Uncle Ed and Aunt Francis. I vividly remember as a little boy running through the yard on Parental Home Road with my brother as we explored the woods, and the marvelous garden that Uncle Ed tended, so that Aunt Jesse would have fresh vegetables to cook with, and for jarring. Whenever I see a mid sixties Plymouth Belvedere, I always think it looks plain without Uncle Eds hat on the dashboard. Words will never communicate the memories and the level of humanity offered by Aunt Francis. I am so thankful for my last visit with Aunt Francis so my boys could meet her, and while she was frail in her older years, she always demonstrated an un-waivering level of strength in her presence. Aunt Francis, you will be missed, and the only solitude I have in grieving your loss is the comfort I have in calling you a family member, along with the numerous memories of you over the years.

It is hard to pick one favorite memory of Aunt Frances because there are so many. So, digging through the many special times, I will share one of the sweetest. When I was in college at Jacksonville University I spent many weekends with Uncle Ed and Aunt Frances on Parental Home Road. One weekend I was not expecting to go over, but after a difficult Friday and a rough Friday evening, I called them. It was around 9:00 PM and they were already dressed and ready for bed. Aunt Frances didn't question my call or suggest they pick me up on Saturday, she simply said, "Uncle Ed will come pick you up. I will have some hot cookies when you get here and we'll talk." I miss both of them so much and long for those hot cookies and talk. Uncle Ed and Aunt Frances were very special people.
