Dr. Frank Min Sen Lin, beloved father and husband, peacefully passed on December 20, 2024, at the age of 84. He served the community of Jacksonville as an anesthesiologist at Methodist Hospital and then at University of Florida, Shands Hospital, for over 35 years.
Dr. Lin was born in Fujiun, China, and was the eldest of three. He was accepted to the prestigious Shanghai Second Hospital Medical University and studied to be a pediatrician. But before he graduated, his family escaped to Taiwan, during the unrest of China's Cival War. After rigorous testing, Dr. Lin secured a position to finish medical school at The National Taiwan University of Medicine, the top medical school in Taiwan. There, he met our mother, Karen Ger Szuching, on a double date set up by his professor. They married on November 9, 1969.
After graduating medical school, Dr. Lin was selected by his mentor and granted the opportunity to continue his studies at one of the most renowned Ivy League institutions in the United States; New York Presbyterian, Columbia Medical Center, where he completed his residency in Anesthesiology. Craving for the warm weather of his home land, he left NYC and moved to sunny Florida, at the end of the Vietnam War. He served our country as a Navy Lieutenant at Cape Canaveral before starting his private practice in Jacksonville, Florida, where he retired.
Dr Lin was predeceased by his father, Ping Cheung Lam, and mother, Ching San Lam.
He is survived by his wife Karen S. Lin and their three children: Jacki Lin, Jonathan Lin and Selina Lin Hofmann, and 6 grandchildren.
Dr. Lin's immediate family will have a private ceremony, as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
