Frank was born January 2, 1930 in Jacksonville, FL. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and worked at the Florida Theater and Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI prior to being drafted into the Army to serve during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he took advantage of the GI Bill and obtained his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Miami. He was recruited out of college by the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. where he worked for 32 years in the Propellers section designing the propeller shafts for the Navy’s submarines.
He married Scarlet Riden in 1964 and had one child, Tracie. He was a great provider, husband and father and he was able to earn enough to enable his wife to be a stay home wife and mother.
After retiring from the Federal government in 1988, he moved his family back to his hometown of Jacksonville, FL to be closer to family and friends. He was a member of the Salaam Club of Jacksonville and enjoyed playing cards there and talking with friends about the good old days. When all his friends passed away, he gave up his membership. He enjoyed going to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa.
Frank is predeceased by his parents, Esse Joseph and Helen Mackoul Zaher, his sisters Mary, Delia and Lula, and his beloved wife of 59 years, Scarlet. He is survived by his daughter, Tracie and brother Joe (Della) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for Frank will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 SAN JOSE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32207. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery.
