

Frankie Dame Brownlee Stevens, age 80, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2011, surrounded by her family. Frankie lived a full life as a musician, athlete, educator, world traveler, Master Gardener, and Flower Judge. She was a member of her college marching band, tennis and bowling teams, and Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was an active member of the National Camellia Society, Jacksonville and Gainesville Camellia Societies, Garden Club of Jacksonville, Daylily Society of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Orchid Society, Rose Society, and Riverside Baptist Church Flower Committee. She loved her family, her church, and her flowers. Frankie was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 2, 1931. She attended Central Riverside Elementary School, John Gorrie Junior High School, and Robert E. Lee High School. She earned her Bachelor's in Education from Florida State University and Master's in Education from the University of Florida. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Frankie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leroy S. Stevens, Jr.; daughters, Katherine A. Isaacs (John), Carol S. Healey (Steve), Susan Powell-Slager, and Alison S. Lassiter; and grandchildren, William R. Arnold, Ashley M. Healey, Jennifer E. Arnold, Morgan A. Healey, Miranda D. Powell, Christy M. Isaacs, and Lisa M. Isaacs. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 10:00am, August 20, 2011 at the Riverside Baptist Church, 2650 Park St., Jacksonville, FL 32205. The family will have a private burial at Riverside Memorial Park.
