

Franklin Dewitt Maddox, "Dee", 69 passed away June 21, 2016 after a brief illness. Dee was born in Eastman, Georgia and resided in Jacksonville, Florida for most of his life. He graduated from N.B. Forrest High School then served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He and his father worked together as trim carpenters for many years, building houses for various builders around the city. He was employed by University of North Florida Physical Facilities for 18 years and retired in 2012. His love for playing softball led him to umpire for the River City Umpires and Jacksonville Umpire Association. He loved the outdoors, duck hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing golf. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He was predeceased by his father Charlie T Maddox and his brother Charles E Maddox. He is survived by his mother, Fronnie Maddox, daughters Ashley Maddox Barber (JB), Alison Dennis (Earle), grandchildren Saige, Huntley and Emma. Sister June Soles (James) and brother Bennie Maddox (Debbie) and his longtime special friend Sandy Oxley and her daughters Leslie Willis (Jason) and Paige Swales (Christopher), and her grandchildren Justin, Austin, and Carson Maddox. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday July 1, 2016 at the Edgewood Avenue Christian Church, 1041 Edgewood Ave S. Jacksonville, FL, 32205. Pastor Tina Christian officiating.
