EDWARDS -Frederick E. Edwards, Jr. 70, passed away Thursday, January 19th, after a short illness. He was a life-long resident of Jacksonville, graduating from duPont High School and F.S.U. He was a member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church and a long-time member of San Jose Country Club. Over the last several years he enjoyed working out with his friends at Baptist Wellness Center three times a week. Friends and family will miss his outspoken interest in politics, his humorous e-mails and his delight in his new Harley.
Fred was predeceased by his wife, Jane Ross Edwards and parents, Fred and Laurie Edwards. He is survived by his son Rick (Emily) Edwards of Bozeman, MT; daughter Kathleen (Bryan) Benton and grandson, Michael of Jacksonville; sister, Suzanne (John) Myrick, Orlando and cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Lung Association of Florida. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Oaklawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the Oaklawn Chapel. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. HARDAGE-GIDDENS OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Blvd., is serving the family.
