

Born in Tampa on August 30, 1925, Mr. O’Donoghue was the son of the late Geoffrey Charles and Ethel Marguerite O’Donoghue.
He moved to Jacksonville in 1937 and attended Robert E. Lee High school and the University of Florida where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He remained a loyal lifelong Gator fan.
Mr. O’Donoghue served in the US Army Air Corp’s 319th Bomb group on Okinawa during WW2. He retired from US Customs after 47 years of service. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling and generously volunteered his time with the Fla Ga Blood Alliance, American Cancer Society and Special Olympics.
He and his late wife were founding members of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Mr. O’Donoghue was predeceased by his wife Theresa, son Ricky, brother Geoff and is survived by a daughter, Susan.
A beloved husband and father, he was a loyal friend to many whose bright and cheerful smile will be greatly missed.
The family expresses gratitude to his devoted caregivers Amie Mendoza, Rosa McClay, Ladeth Vergara and to Angel Benoit, Terrie Partin, Mary Runyan of Community Hospice.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the funeral home with Monsignor Mortimer Danaher and Father John Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Donations in his name may be made to Community Hospice or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
