

Gencie Rucker passed away in peace, November 10, 2021 at the age of 72. Gencie, the daughter of CDR Preston Rucker and Gardys Eubanks Rucker, was a loving wife, a friend and an amazing educator. She is survived by her husband Bill, her sister Lorna, many friends and several furry children.
Gencie’s education in part was a Bachelors in English at University of North Florida and a Masters in Humanities at Florida State University. Gencie loved teaching and sharing her knowledge and experience with others. She participated in the inception of the University of North Florida. She taught inmates helping them with their rehabilitation. She also taught onboard Navy ships as well as high school. Throughout her 35-year career as a professor, Gencie taught Business, English and Humanities at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Gencie inspired thousands of young minds into becoming a better version of themselves. Along the way, she also found the love of her life, her husband Bill. Her colorful and vibrant spirit will always be remembered by those she loved and inspired. Gencie now sees us all from above smiling and knowing that she contributed to making our world a better place. Gencie will always live in the heart of all of those who had the opportunity to be part of her life.
