George Rudolphe (Rudy) Belanger was born in Southbridge, Massachusetts to George and Lorraine Belanger on February 2, 1946, and passed away in Hospice Care in Jacksonville, Florida on November 21, 2025. His memorial service will be at Greenlawn Cemetery on December 29th at 1:00pm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna, four adult children: Amy Dreffs (Alan) with seven children and grandchildren, Jay (Lori) with one child, Laura Belanger-Johnson (Steve) and John (Brit) with two children.
Rudy went to Vietnam and was in the Army for four years, attaining full Military Honors, and then had a career in banking. He then traded his suits for jeans and I Love Grandpa t-shirts, and was spotted reading, doing genealogy, petting dogs, renovating his house or spending time with his wife and family. His family was very active in First Baptist Church Jacksonville, where his two youngest children were raised. Dad always made sure that we went to church every week. Dad lead his parents to the Lord in their elderly years. This was held close to his heart. His range of friends loved Rudy for his amazing wealth of knowledge on a variety of subjects and his listening ear and advice. He is missed greatly, but we know we will see him in heaven. So, instead of Goodbye, we will just say, “Until we see you again”.
Our family would also like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to: Agewell Neptune Beach, Agewell Housecalls, Baptist Bayada, Baptist Hospital and ER, Brooks Rehab, Community Hospice, Cypress Village, JFRD, Memorial Hospital and ER, LifeCare Jax, Rivergarden, the VA, and the many aides, nurses and doctors that touched our lives during this past year. Your compassion and dedication meant the world to us in our darkest moments.
