

George R. Ossi, age 94, passed away on May 24, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 27, 1931, to Aziz and Hayat Ossi and was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. George is survived by Jacklen, his beloved wife of 67 years, and was the proud father of Raymond Ossi (Robyn), Natalie Coutros (George), Richard Ossi (Mona), and Cindy Lodise (Billy), grandchildren Lauren, Brooke, Elizabeth, Madeline, Ansley, Anthony, Nick, Alex, and great-grandchildren Lucy, Kate, Emma, Molly, Mack, William, and Ellie. He is also survived by his sisters Josie and Julia. He was predeceased by his brothers John, James and sister Jeanette.
George graduated from St. Josephs Academy in 1950 and the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 1955. After graduating from the University of Florida, he managed a pharmacy in the Arlington area for about one year. He and his brother John opened their first pharmacy, Ossi’s Apothecary on Hendricks Avenue in 1957. Their business expanded in 1973 to include a second location at Deerwood Village Mall. George continued to own and manage the Hendricks Avenue apothecary. After selling his business to Winn Dixie in 1996, George wanted to continue to serve many of his lifetime customers; he worked part-time at the Winn Dixie Pharmacy on University Boulevard until his retirement in 2010. George loved being a pharmacist and interacting with his Jacksonville customers for more than 50 years. He was an avid bowler, tennis player and golfer. He lived life to the fullest with faith in God and was an active parishioner at Assumption Catholic Church, serving as extraordinary minister and usher.
The family will receive family and friends for a visitation on June 8th, at 9am, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11757 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32258
Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center at mayoclinic.org/development or Community Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation in Jacksonville at thefoundationcares.org/give.
