

George “Scott” Studebaker passed away after a long journey with Parkinson’s at the age of 79 on October 23, 2025. Scott was born on September 24, 1946 in Jacksonville and lived in a number of places before returning to Jacksonville where he was a resident until his passing.
Scott graduated from Paxton High School in 1964 and attended North Florida Junior College where he earned an Associates Degree. He then joined the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, serving in Vietnam and Okinawa. Scott earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Florida State University following his discharge. Scott was a teacher in the Duval County Public Schools where he greatly enjoyed teaching and mentoring students. Although Scott’s heart was in teaching, he switched careers to join Southern Bell/AT&T as Director of Network Operations until he retired.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing and hunting and an active member of a local Bass Club. He was an accomplished woodworker, specializing in making period furniture, Scott was also a history buff, Florida State Fan and an FSU Booster. Spiritual life was important to Scott and he was a member of the Mandarin Presbyterian Church.
Scott was predeceased by his parents, Ralph M. Studebaker and Clara P. Studebaker. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annette Sessions Studebaker of Jacksonville, his brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Mary Helen Studebaker of Pinetta, Florida. Scott is also survived by his two children and spouses, son Brian and Stephanie Studebaker of Jacksonville and daughter Marian and Robert King of Huntsville Alabama. Scott was also blessed with loving grandchildren Reid and Alexis Singles of Huntsville Alabama and Grace and Jack Studebaker of Jacksonville.. Scott is survived by his great grandson, Casey Singles of Huntsville Alabama as well as eight step grandchildren.
The family would like to thank The Veterans Administration, Community Hospice and Palliative Care as well as the many caregivers over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, The Parkinson’s Foundation, or Community Hospice.
