

Georgiana Barrett, 95, of Jacksonville, FL passed away quietly March 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Roy and Edith Mary Barrett. She is survived by special friends Maxine Yarborough, Sherry Melkerson, Gloria Dixon and Lisa Clotfelter. Georgiana was born on September 21, 1922, in Leesburg, Ohio where she graduated from High School. She attended Capital University in Columbus Ohio receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1943 and the University of Florida receiving a Master’s Degree in 1954. She taught 1st grade in Sardinia Ohio, Lake Worth and in Jacksonville at Annie Beaman, Dupont, San Jose, Kings Trail and Hendricks Avenue Elementary schools. Georgiana retired from teaching in 1993 after teaching first grade for 50 years. Georgiana was a member of Southside Methodist Church, of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, San Jose Country Club and The University Club. Georgiana enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad. She enjoyed lifelong friendships and was known for her kindness, cheerfulness and loyalty. She will be missed.
A visitation will be held from 1-3pm, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville. www.hardagegiddensoaklawn.com.
Interment will be held in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg, Ohio at a later date.
