
He was the son of the late O.G. and Myrtle Ball Coffman, and was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Richard Coffman, and sister, Betty Jane Alley.
He was a devoted and loving husband for 64 years to Margery “Bobbie” Bowen who lived together in Jacksonville for 56 years. He worked for JC Penney, was an Army veteran of the Korean war where he served in the US and France (1952-1955), a civil engineer and truck/bus driver in the Florida Air Guard where he served in the US, West Germany, Spain and Honduras (1958-1988), a conductor and switchman with Atlantic Coastline Railroad (1958-1992), a volunteer Fireman with the Dinsmore Fire Department (1960-1969), a Deputy Constable (1960-1969), and a conductor and switchman for CSX Railroad (1992-1994). Glen left his family a book of memories fondly called “Glen’s Bio”, and was the family historian. He was a devoted, caring and generous son, husband, father, grand-father and friend.
He is survived by his children, Karen Mihalik (David) of Jacksonville and Timothy Coffman (Debbie) of Callahan; grandchildren, Kimberly Mihalik of Virginia, Kelli Crosby (Scott) of Colorado and Destiny Sorrells of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His children would like to thank: The National Retired Railroad Association where he had the pleasure of serving as President for many years and also the SICU staff at UF Health who cared for him with compassion.
Visitation will be the Thursday March 24, 2016 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be 11am Friday March 25, 2016 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home with Dr. Winson Butler officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30pm in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
