Gloria Mae Hood

Gloria Mae Hood, 78, passed away on January 1, 2016. Born Gloria Mae Stoops on July 25, 1937 in Newport News, VA. She was a long time resident of Hampton, VA. She was the beloved wife of William "Buster" Hood of Jacksonville, FL.

Gloria was a down to earth generous soul who loved family. She enjoyed travel, history, fishing, and dancing. Winning the hearts and trust of many she was a wonderful confidant, counselor and loyal friend. Her determination and stamina in life was a true testament of her unwavering faith. She was a beloved mother and wife and is greatly missed.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Shirley Jean Dail. She is survived by her children, Sheila Schoch (Joe), Donna Vignaroli (Ed), Dale Kellerman (Elizabeth); step children William Hood Jr. (Laura), Debby Hood Ferrell (Oscar) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. There will be a family memorial in Hampton at a later date, details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the women’s shelter Hubbard House at hubbardhouse.org.
