

Granville Britt Railey, Jr., fondly remembered as “Brett”, age 87, beloved husband, father and grandfather died March 28, 2025 in Jacksonville Florida. Brett was born on December 11, 1937 to Granville Brett Railey, Sr. and Margaret Avent Railey.
He was married to Barbara Ann Beyer in 1966. He is predeceased by his father, mother, and sister Margaret Railey Miller. He is survived by his wife Barbara of over 58 years and his children: son, Brett Eric Railey and daughter Kimberly Railey Holden, grandson, Daniel Ryan Holden, granddaughters Zoe Alexandra Holden and Kinsey Grace Holden. He is also survived by his sister, Diane R Curington (Jim) Gainesville, Georgia, and Frances R. Edwards (Jack deceased) from Blairsville, Georgia, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Brett graduated from Robert E Lee High School and the University of Florida, where he received a degree in Business Administration. He was a member of various clubs, including the Florida Yacht Club, Ortega River Club and past president of the Young Republicans Club. He was passionate about whitewater rafting, golf, tennis, racquetball and had the gift of storytelling and public speech as a member of Toastmasters International. He loved to dance, he loved God, his family and country. He also served in the United States Army Reserve and served active duty during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.
During his life, he started various companies: a chemical company Babco, a security company ISS International Safety Systems, a freight company, Florida Freight Forwarders and a sign company, Ad America. Projects from his sign company are displayed in Florida and one on Guam.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Visitation will begin at noon followed by services at 1:00 p.m on Friday, April 4, 2025. Interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
