WATERS- Gwendolyn M. “Mama Gwen” Waters, 85, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010. Mrs. Waters, a native of Dania, FL was the owner/operator of Water’s Day Care Center for many years where she was known for her loving ways with the children she helped “raise” on the Northside of Jacksonville. She was also a well known and loved fixture of her Breton Rd. neighborhood. Surviving family includes: her daughter, Nola (Smokey) Choquette; three brothers, Wallace Mikell, Bobby Mikell, and D. C. Mikell; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Zachary Elliott. The family will receive friends at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Wednesday(TODAY) from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15 at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Harold Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
