Haifa was gifted to the world in Amman, Jordan on September 1, 1949 to Lattouf Salameh and Fadwa Khoury. She lived life as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt and a sister. But to those who knew her, they knew her as a superwoman. A fighter. A giver. And THE definition of strength and humility. The strength to take on an arduous and difficult 18-year battle with cancer (and defy medical odds) and the unwavering humility to put others first.
In fact, two things were always a given upon meeting Aunty Haifa — as she was affectionately referred to: one, there was no way you were leaving her house without being fed – even if it meant that she had to muster every bit of energy to do so; two, you could always, always, count on hearing positive praises and genuine well wishes coming out of her mouth. Regardless of how difficult her own battles have been. To Haifa, family was not just important, it was everything.
