Harold passed from this world into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Nov. 12, 2014 in his home in Jacksonville after a long illness. He leaves his faithful wife Holly, who was sweetness and joy to his life. He also leaves four children, Haley Sands, Brittany Rhodes, Bart Reeder, and Shelby Austin; six grandchildren, and his mother-in-law, Lori Aronson, all of Jacksonville, FL and brother, Paul of Germantown, TN. He is predeceased by his parents, Irwin and Vivian Reeder of Memphis and his favored Aunt Pauline Shappely of Kosciusko, MS. Hal was a 1971 graduate of Messick High School, 1976 Honors Graduate of the University of Memphis, and a 1979 graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. He was well known and popular with his fellow students and professors. Dr. Reeder was a Navy physician, and Chief Resident here at the Naval Hospital during his years prior to joining the University of Florida/Shands and remained with UF from 1987 to 2012, when he became medically disabled. During his long and distinguished career, he served with distinction in many roles for the family medicine residency and clinic, including Associate Residency Program Director. During his long service, he was the recipient of numerous teaching awards, including the multiple Exemplary Teacher of the Year Awards from the University of Florida. His students and graduating residency doctors remember him well and were always thrilled to have him host the Residency Graduation Event, because his sense of humor was well known. He touched the hearts not only of his loved ones, the many patients and people he worked with over the years, but even the mailman, whom he always left a Gatorade in the mail box for every day and the gate guard to whom he brought doughnuts. He is in his mansion in the sky with his Beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be missed.
