

A Jacksonville native, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jarma Edward (Bud) Dixon in 2009. They were a team for more than 60 years, including prior to their marriage, as an award-winning sailing team. With Helen as skipper and Jarma as crew, they set a new course record in the 1942 St. Johns River Regatta. They continued their love of boating for many decades, sailing competitively and for pleasure.
Helen was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and attended both the University of Alabama and what is now known as Florida State University.
Active in the Jacksonville community over the years, she was a member of The Florida Yacht Club and formerly a member of Ponte Vedra Club, The River Club, Epping Forest, Selva Marina, Sawgrass Country Club, as well as the Riverside Garden Club.
Helen was devoted to her family and children. They are Neva Dixon Rountree (Don), Helen Dixon Coppedge, Elizabeth McIlvaine Dixon, Kathleen McIlvaine Dixon and Lee Dixon Cesery (Bill). Her grandchildren are Kenneth Lee Baier, Joe Thomas Coppedge (Lisa), James Tribble King (Jennifer), Travis Edward King (Talia), Christie Dixon Cesery, William Ross Cesery III, and Don Carl Rountree (Tiffany). The family includes eight great grandchildren, numerous cousins, as well as nephew Gene McIlvaine of Port St. Lucie, Fl.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, distinguished Jacksonville attorney E.T. McIlvaine and her beloved mother, Neva Edmundson McIlvaine.
