Helen Schneider Jaben

Helen Schneider Jaben passed away peacefully at her home Friday, March 17, 2023. She was 96 years old. She was born July 16, 1926 to the late Morris M. and Bessie Y. Schneider. She was also predeceased by her only brother, Dr. Irvin C. Schneider. She grew up in Chipley, Florida and attended Stevens College in Columbia, MO and graduated from Sophie Newcombe in New Orleans, LA. After that, the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where Helen was secretary to Rabbi Lefkowitz of The Temple Ahavath Chesed for several years. She lived her life in a marvelous marriage with husband Larry, always together both at home and at Larry's Shoes. She was devoted to her children, her parents and the larger family- uncles, aunts, cousins on both sides of the family- and especially grandkids and great-grandkids. She is survived by her husband of 72 years Lawrence L. Jaben. She is also survived by her three children, Dr. Scott Jaben (Hilary), Dr. Mark Jaben (Mary Ann) and Beth Jaben. She was the very proud "Mimi" to Dr. Korey Jaben (Dr. Brett Van Leer-Greenberg), Chad Jaben (Karen), Dr. Isaac Jaben (Amelia Lane), Molly Jaben, David Jaben, and 6 great grandchildren- Henry, Jackson, Eli, Asher, Eloise and Penelope. She was a lifelong member of the Jacksonville Jewish Center. A private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
