Holly Michael Hosch, 65, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away at Hadlow Hospice Center on May 6, 2016 after a brave battle with cancer. Born May 17, 1950 in Frederick, Maryland, she was the daughter of Betty Michael and the late Herman Lavier Michael. She grew up in Fairfax, Virginia and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1968. In 1972, Holly graduated from the University of Kentucky and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Early Education from the University of North Florida. She later became an avid Gator fan. Holly was a dedicated teacher for the Duval County School Board for 44 years, teaching at Venetia Elementary and Beauclerc Elementary Schools.
Her hobbies included reading, bunko, tennis and aerobics, but her true passions were running, teaching and spending time with her four grandchildren. Holly ran in countless races including over 30 Gate River Runs.
Holly’s quick wit and generous nature enhanced the lives of all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, David Lee Hosch, daughter, Courtney Jennings (Aaron), grandchildren, Cooper and Ryleigh of Dana Point, CA; stepson, Travis Hosch (Alia), step-grandchildren, Hudson and Hayes Hosch, of St. Petersburg, FL; and her brother, Bruce Michael (Debbie) of Mount Airy, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, May 12th at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Ave, 32207. The memorial service will be at 10am on Friday, May 13th at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 6133 San Jose Blvd, 32217. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Holly’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank “The BRAs” (Beauclerc Retirement Association) for all their help and generosity over the last couple of months.
