Howard Elwyn “Red” Kerlin, 94, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Kerlin had lived many years in Jacksonville before moving with his family to New Smyrna, Florida in 1972. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Red was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda M. Kerlin. Survivors include his daughter, Diane Neal (Jim) of Jacksonville; his son, James Kerlin (Nancy) of Edgewater, Florida; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Justin, Robert, Brian and Julie; seven great-grandchildren; other loving family and friends. He will be buried beside his wife, Hilda, at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville. Memorial services will be planned at a future date.
