Imogene "Gene" R. Cooper, 89 resident of Stapleton, AL but a long resident of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Monday, February 3rd, 2014. Gene was taken care of by her loving daughter Pam Harrell and she passed of natural causes. Her final years were very happy and comfortable. Gene was affectionately known as "coop" by all her grandkids. Gene's life centered around her love for the church, her relationship with Jesus Christ and her true love for all those around her. She absolutely lived daily by Christ's two greatest commandments. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. Not only did she live her life this way but she instilled this lesson in each of her kids. However she is a hard example to emulate. Though her family misses her terribly we all know that life is only a temporal. For Christians, the loss of a loved one is a time of sadness but it is also truly a time of celebration. We will all join Gene in the not too distant future. Gene spent much of her life working in library at Jacksonville, University and she carried that love of libraries to each church that she attended. She was always the church librarian. Gene is survived by her sister, Betty, two of her three children, Bob and Pam, her daughter-in-law Sandy and her 7 grandchildren - Trey, Z, Brittney, Jared, Kara, Jack, and Rose. A graveside service will be held Saturday 10:00A.M., February 8th at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. www.greenlawnjacksonville.com
