

ROYAL, J.N. Jr., 82, passed away on Good Friday, April 22, 2011. He grew up and attended school in the Tallahassee area and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After leaving the service, J.N. Royal moved to Jacksonville in 1948 where he married Frances Tison Royal and had a son, Thomas David Royal. He served for 35 years with the Duval County Road Patrol (later the City of Jacksonville), attaining the rank of sergeant. J.N. was a teacher and mentor in the law enforcement field who will be remembered by many for his contributions and service to the community. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Vera Royal, and many friends including his special friend Jodie Renno. Visitation for Mr. Royal will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29 in Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in J.N.'s name to Community Hospice of N.E.Florida or the Tom Royal Foundation.
