Jack Anders Pace, 95, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018. Jack was born in Landrum, South Carolina and moved to Jacksonville with his family at the age of 3. For 37 years he worked for NARF at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville followed by 10 years with Northrop Grumman. He will be remembered as a loving, compassionate husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jack was a World War II Veteran in the US Army/Air Corp. He was also a devoted member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church and a former member of Murray Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Throughout his life Jack spent much of his free time in service to others. He took particular joy from his work with “The Wednesday Gang” as a volunteer with Habijax.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Catherine McGlon Pace; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver D. Pace Sr.; his daughter, Sharon Pace Baker and his grandson, Brian Anders Seale. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Pace Carson; granddaughters, Julie (Phil) Brown, Laura (Stephen) Jenkins, and Marianne (Scott) Miller; great-grandchildren, Catherine and Harrison Brown, Nicole, Olivia and Kate Seale, Olivia and Tripp Jenkins, and Jack Miller, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and his loving caregiver, Patricia Smith.
Donations may be made in Mr. Pace’s memory to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
