

Chaplain Jack Rogers, USN, 85, passed away October 24, 2014 in Jacksonville, FL. Jack served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY in 1961, earning his BA in History. Jack then earned his Master’s in Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY in 1965. He reenlisted in the US Navy as a Chaplain, serving two tours in Vietnam. Jack served with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Division in 1967-1968. He retired as a Commander in 1985 and returned to civilian life, starting new mission churches while establishing Rogers & Sons Contracting, building homes throughout St. Johns County. Jack was a member of San Jose Baptist Church. Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Claire Behan. He is survived by children, Gary (Mary Anne), Greg (Regina), Rhonda Pawloski (Mark); grandchildren, Christy She (Xiao), Shawn Rogers (Sarah), Brendan Rogers, Ryan Rogers, Matthew Pawloski, and Andrew Pawloski; great grandchildren, Colby She, Aimee Deeds, Ansleigh Rogers, and Audrey She. Services will be held Thursday, October 30 at 1:00pm in San Jose Baptist Church, 6140 San Jose Blvd. Family will receive friends one hour prior at the church at 12:00pm. Interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park.
