

James Carl Bergman 92, passed away in Jacksonville FL on Sunday, September 24th, 2017. Born October 26th, 1924 in Atlanta, GA, he also lived in Macon and Columbus where he met his future wife, Dorothy of 64 years.
James is survived by his son James G. Bergman (Ginny), daughter Janet Barnett, seven grandchildren; Edward Bergman (Elizabeth), David Bergman, Christy Tubbs (Aaron), Jamie Buck (Clint), Heather Richman (Jon), Lindsey McCoy (Mike), Kim Barnett, and five great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by wife Dorothy Hunter Bergman, sister Mary Meadows, son Charles Bergman and son-in-law Richard Barnett.
James, at the age of 18, was drafted into the Army Air Corps serving as a tail gunner on a B-24 bomber in the Pacific during WWII. After graduating from Georgia Tech in 1950 with a BSEE, he went to work for IBM for over 37 years. He enjoyed travel, family retreats at Big Canoe, GA, and was an avid golfer and tennis player. He was well known in the church community for his helpful hand receiving a “Gold Hammer” award. He accomplished many things during life but was most proud of his family.
A memorial service is being held at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 am.
