Jamie lived a life that was anything but ordinary. After graduating from high school, he proudly served four years in the United States Navy before eventually finding his way back to Nevada, where he made Las Vegas his home for many years. There, he became well known for his talent and charisma as a flair bartender, always able to make people laugh, smile, and feel welcome.
Life took an unexpected turn after a back injury led Jamie into years of addiction — a battle that cost him deeply. But Jamie’s story did not end there. In one of the greatest comebacks imaginable, he fought his way to sobriety after moving to Jacksonville, Florida, where he entered a program through The Salvation Army. He rebuilt his life from the ground up, turning pain into purpose.
Jamie went on to become a counselor, dedicating himself to helping others caught in the throes of addiction. He understood struggle firsthand and used his experiences to offer hope, honesty, and compassion to people who needed someone to believe in them. The same man who once lost everything became the person helping others save themselves.
He was preceded in death by his father, James “Frank” Berrier; his paternal grandparents, Bobbie Hinkle and Hubert Berrier; and his maternal grandparents, Doc and Eunice Oberhansli.
Jamie is survived by his mother, Judith Berrier; his sister, Nicky Berrier-Talley; his brother, Robert Berrier; his children, Sierra Berrier, Camden White, and Logan Berrier; and his former spouse, Julie Berrier, who remained faithfully by his side throughout his illness.
Jamie’s life was proof that a person can lose their way and still find their way back. He will be remembered not only for the struggles he endured, but for the countless lives he touched after finding sobriety, purpose, and peace.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
— Matthew 6:33
