

He attended Henry Grady (Boys High) in Atlanta, GA, and graduated in 1948, subsequently attending Georgia State College. He also served in the United States Air Force as a Technical Sergeant from 1951-1954.
Ed had a successful career in the insurance industry in various capacities and retired as Regional Vice President from Commercial Union in 1991. After retiring, he returned to Jacksonville, FL, to be near family and spent some time performing audits for the insurance industry.
Ed was also a faithful member of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church member for over 38 years and served as an usher and a member of the mission board and finance committee. Ed was an entertainer at heart and spent time as a choir member, most recently engaging in spontaneous duets in the hospital.
He enjoyed long, daily walks at Jacksonville Beach and was an avid sports fan. You could find him loyally cheering on the Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Braves, and Louisiana Tech Bulldogs throughout the years.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Wall Buice, Donna Adams (Gary), Tim Buice, and Jim Buice. As well as six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survived.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Buice, Sr., his mother Christine McKelvey Buice, brother Ronnie Buice (Dianne), sisters Betty Pulley (Jack) and Frances Dzendzel (Burdette).
He had a very kind and gentle soul and greatly missed his family.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in his name to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
