Jim graduated from Englewood High School in 1968. During his high school years, he played football, being chosen for the All City and All State Championships. In 1968, Jim enlisted in in United States Air Force to proudly serve his country; he served in England and North Dakota. In 1969, Jim married the love of his life, Kathy Nichols. Jim then served our city with the Jacksonville Fire Department for 33 years.
Jim was an active member of River City Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and spent countless hours volunteering for different ministries. Jim had a servant's heart and faithfully served the Lord with gladness. Jim also loved building things and coaching at Arlington Little League.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Johns, and father, Holland Geiger. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn N. Geiger, his three sons, Casey (Courtney), Christopher, and Jay; his sister, Janet Hartney (Chris); and two nephews. Visitation will be held at River City Baptist Church, 6801 Merrill Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32277, on October 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Lunch reception is to follow.
