James David Green

James David Green, Sr., born October 6, 1949, in Fort Sill, OK, died April 4, 2019, at Anthem Lakes Senior Living Memory Care, Jacksonville, FL. Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sara, his sons James Jr. (Michelle), Jacksonville, FL and Michael Bush, Ewa Beach, HI, his mother, Genie Green Register (Herb), Bryson City, NC, brothers John Green (Sharon), Jacksonville, FL, Jerry Green (Julie), Bartlett, TN, sisters Janet Underhill (Roy), Prosperity, SC, Joy Carpenter (Craig), Parker, CO, and Janice Carter, Knoxville, TN, as well as three granddaughters, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. His father, Jerald D. Green, predeceased him. Jim lived in Jacksonville most of his life and worked in the insurance industry. He later enjoyed hunting for “valuable antiques cheap”, combing beaches with his metal detectors, and rescuing and finding homes for numerous feral kittens, some of which he claimed as his own. Jim had a passion for American history, especially the Civil War and WWII, and taking long rides in his little red sports car he called “Baby”. After serving at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for many years teaching precious 3 1/2 year olds, his church home became Fort Caroline Baptist, a special place where making folks feel welcomed and loved is preached and where Jim was cherished as a friend and brother in Christ. Help us to honor Jim’s life on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Services will start at 11:00 am at Fort Caroline Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL. A meal will be served to family and out of town guests after the service in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Jim’s family cannot express enough gratitude to the entire staff at Anthem Lakes and to the amazing Vitas Hospice Team 206, as well as others who joined in to provide continuous care for Jim during his final days. In lieu of flowers please make a tribute donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
