

James Richard Mann (JR, Jimmy, Yim), age 68, earned his angel wings peacefully in his wife’s arms and surrounded by family at home in St. Johns, Florida on August 27, 2015. Jimmy was born to Charles and Betty Mann on September 27, 1946 in Jacksonville and attended local Duval County schools.
Jimmy served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed as a locomotive engineer with Amtrak and CSX, where he served dutifully for 32 years before retiring in 2004. He also was a 2nd Degree Mason of the Riverside Lodge (formerly Woodstock Lodge). In his leisure, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Jimmy was known as a comical joker, always enjoying to make others laugh. He was an accomplished and intricate artist, talented craftsman, and lover of nature and all animals.
JR was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Sarah Diane Mann; and brother, Wayne Mann. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Leslie; his son, Charles Mann and daughter-in-law, Shelly Mann and their sons, Justin and Austin; his daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Chad Axler; grandson, Rye; his brother, Gary Mann and his wife, Aletha. Jimmy loved his three dogs, Rocket, Kyle, Molly Mann, and kitty, Henry.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 1:00pm in the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida.
