McVeigh, James Edward “Mac” a native of Jacksonville, died February 27, 2015. He was born April 14, 1934. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and joined the City of Jacksonville Police Department, which was prior to consolidation. He retired from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department as a Lieutenant with 34 years of service. After retiring, he and his wife Bette moved to the river in St. Augustine. He loved hunting and fishing which he enjoyed with his best buddy Harry Johnson. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rosilyn Robertson; father and mother, Edward Earle and Edna Mae (nee Parramore) McVeigh and brother, Howard E. McVeigh. Mac is survived by his wife of 60 years Bette; son, Michael (Eileen); grandchildren, James, Caitlin and Travis; sisters, Edna Rinaudo, Elsie King (Emerson) and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 7th in Switzerland Community Church, 2179 State Road 13, Switzerland, FL 32259. Memorial contributions may be made to Switzerland Community Church or Community Hospice of NE Florida.
