James M. “Skip” Michel, 79, of St. Johns, FL died on April 22, 2018 at home surrounded by his family, after a long battle with illness. He was born in DuBois, PA to Mary C. (Armstrong) and Francis G. Michel on July 4, 1938.
Skip’s family moved to Hudson, MA in 1949 where they set strong roots. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1956, and joined the United States Navy immediately following. In the Navy, Skip made rank to Petty Officer while serving as a Fuel System Installer. After being Honorably Discharged in 1960, Skip returned to Hudson where he met his future bride, Diane R. (Lawless). They married in 1963 and had their daughter Ann-Marie “Ami” R. in 1967. Skip attended the Salesman Training Institute prior to joining the Action Bearing Company where he was the top Sales Representative for over 40 years.
Once Skip retired in 2004, he and Diane followed their daughter and son-in-law to Florida. In the Sunshine State, Skip fished regularly, enjoyed his time with his family, and his daily trips to Dunkin Donuts. In his retirement, Skip took great pride and pleasure in spending quality time with his grandkids. His greatest joy was his family; all he ever wanted in life was the family he got. He was a man of great faith, with an infectious personality that made everyone smile. He was an extremely positive person and lived every day to the fullest.
