Born to John (“Jack”) and Pearl (Martel) Rafferty, in Niagara Falls, New York, Jim attended St. Theresa’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in 1965. He volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam where he was awarded Purple Hearts through his combat experiences.
After his military service, Jim married Carol Terezia of Niagara Falls and has two children, Robert Rafferty of Hanover, Pa. and Vanessa Mastros of Davidsonville, MD. He went on to become a licensed contractor and established his own construction business in the Baltimore area. He is a published author of poetry, an accomplished actor, singer, and story teller.
Jim retired to Jacksonville, FL where he lived for the last 10 years. His love of people, keen wit, and sense of humor brought him innumerable friends over the years. In addition to his children, Jim is survived by his loving grandsons, Jake and Joe; sister, Colleen Colon; brothers Joe and Jack; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. While we miss him so dearly, we rejoice in his resurrection to new life with the Lord. May he rest in Peace.
