SMITH—James D. “Don” Smith, 86, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013. He was a native of Boone County, IA and a veteran of the US Coast Guard. As an electrician, he was a 65 year member of IBEW Local #177. While he was involved in many things including camping but will be remembered as being “Just a Good Ole’ Dad” to everybody he knew. Don was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Jacquelyn Sue Smith, in April of 2012. His surviving family includes: his daughter, Donna (Denny) Taylor; 2 sons, Tom (Pam) Smith and Terry (Dan) Smith; 4 grandchildren, Sue (John), Denease (Ray), Alaina (Adam) and Robert (Angel) and 7 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Joshua, Noah, Josiah, Gabriel, Isaac, and McKendree. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery near Callahan with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, July 19 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
