Janet Stark Harrison passed away peacefully, at the age of 91, on Friday, November 12, 2010. She was born in Caldwell, New Jersey, and had lived in Jacksonville since 1952. She and her husband, Arnie moved to Jacksonville to help open the South Central Home Office of the Prudential Insurance Company.
She was the daughter of William and Leah Stark. She was predeceased by her mother, father, stepmother, her brother Bud and his very dear wife, Betty, and most missed, her beloved husband, Arnie Harrison.
She leaves behind two devoted sons, Alan (Pearl) Harrison, and Jeff (Susan) Harrison, and three grandchildren, Arnie, Jordan, and Andrew, and a great granddaughter, Rachel.
She worked for many years as an assistant to Dr. Samuel Root, was a trusted friend to so many, a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital, and a supporter of several wonderful non-profit organizations, including Eye Lab, and the Temple Sisterhood.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation for the kindnesses shown to Janet during her last days by Trouta and Herbert Bohrman, Pat Goldberg, Life Care Center of Jacksonville, and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Community Hospice or the Temple.
Grave side services will be held 1:00 PM Monday (today), November 15, at Temple Cemetery (located in Evergreen Cemetery).
Arrangements are by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue.
