“It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the death of my mother, Janet Lee Roy, who passed away in her home in Jacksonville, Florida from stage 4 metastatic lung cancer on June 26th, 2024 at 59 years old. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Deborah Kilgore and stepfather, Bill Wilt. She left behind her mother, Sharon Wilt, her father, Johnnie Kilgore, her stepmother, Elaine Kilgore, her older sister, Susan Brown (Duane), her brothers, Scott Wilt, Raymond McSwain (Michelle), and Chris Cope (Jenny), many nieces and nephews, her ex-husband, Terry Roy, her beloved dog, Bella, and her daughter, Kayla Roy.
In addition to being a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend, Janet was a truly amazing mother who loved being known as Kayla’s mom more than anything else. She was a bookkeeper by profession and an upstanding member of the community. Everyone who encountered Janet got to experience her kindness, generosity, selflessness, and strength. She was so sweet to everyone she met and offered love in abundance to her friends and family. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. Even in her last days, she asked everyone to remain hopeful and joyful, which is an excellent reflection of how she lived her life.
Details for a small memorial service to commemorate her beautiful life and all the love she spread will be shared soon.”
