Janet was totally committed to her family and profession. As a wife, mother, grandmother and sister, her family members would say there are none-better. Janet was born with the gift of caring for and serving others. She secured a nursing degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing. Later she went back and secured her BSN from the University of Texas at Arlington. It was at that point in her career that she found a true love for Emergency Nursing (ER). She worked her way up to the ER charge nurse at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington Texas. When she and her family returned to Jacksonville, she joined the trauma center at UF Health (Duval Medical Center back in those days). A few years later she was recruited to join the ER team at Baptist Medical Center where she worked for 20 years. Then she was tagged to go and open the ER at Baptist South. She spent another 15 years there before retiring.
Janet lived a full life. She and her family lived in Jacksonville, moved to Orlando, followed by Albuquerque New Mexico, then Dallas Texas, and back to Jacksonville. She and her husband left no stone unturned. They traveled to the Bahamas’, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Hawaii 3 times. They attended 3 Super Bowls, a summer and winter Olympics and tailgated at Florida field for 30 years.
Janet ‘s footprint on her family, her friends, and the thousands of patients she helped over the years will be felt forever and never forgotten. Her nurturing spirit and support provided a strong foundation for her two sons. She leaves behind memories and lessons that will be treasured forever. We are sure she is up in heaven caring for and serving her new family.
